Customising User and Permissions Management
Authorization concept
Another important authorization object for background processing is the object S_BTCH_NAM, which allows a user to run the steps of a job under another user (see SM36 -> Edit step). Here, a name other than the user's own can be entered in the user field of a step. The prerequisite is that the job scheduler has an authorization for the object S_BTCH_NAM, which contains the name of the step user, and that the step user exists in the same client as the job scheduler itself. From 4.6C: The step user must be of type Dialog, Service, System or Communication.

The simulation of the mixing process is delivered with SAP Note 1941325. When you call step 2c, you will get a list of all the roles with the information about whether the respective role is already mixed (green light) or still needs to be mixed (red light). Highlight a role in this list. Use the Mix button to get the simulation of the mixing process for the selected roll.

The authorization objects are attached by analogy to the forecast and item-based reports. The authorization objects of the item-based reports are checked in addition to the authorization objects for the information system when the report is selected. There is a trick in maintaining the CO-PA-specific authorization objects, because a once selected result area is set for the entire session of your login. This is of course hindering the maintenance of authorization objects for different result areas. Therefore, simply change the result area in the Customising window using the following path: Controlling > Income and market segment accounting > Structures > Set result area.

In addition, you can also define customised permission checks in the SOS and also define combinations of authorization objects and their values. You can create up to 1,000 custom permissions checks in the Check ID namespace 9000 to 9999. You can also redefine whitelists for these permission checks, which apply to either individual or all of the customer's permission checks. The configuration is described in SAP Note 837490.

During go-live, the assignment of necessary authorizations is particularly time-critical. The "Shortcut for SAP systems" application provides functions for this purpose, so that the go-live does not get bogged down because of missing authorizations.

SAP Basis refers to the administration of SAP system that includes activities like installation and configuration, load balancing, and performance of SAP applications running on Java stack and SAP ABAP. This includes the maintenance of different services related to database, operating system, application and web servers in SAP system landscape and stopping and starting the system. Here you can find some useful information about SAP Basis: www.sap-corner.de.

As with an SAP_NEW role, it is possible to generate an SAP_APP role.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? Scribble Papers is a "note box" that makes this very easy.

Role-based authorizations are flexible and facilitate global implementations of SAP SuccessFactors, e.g. in different national companies.
