The SAP authorization concept protects transactions, programs, services and information in SAP systems against unauthorized access. Based on the authorization concept, the administrator assigns users the authorizations that determine the actions this user can perform in the SAP system after logging on and being authenticated.
To access business objects or execute SAP transactions, a user requires appropriate authorizations, since business objects or transactions are protected by authorization objects. The authorizations represent instances of the generic authorization objects and are defined according to the employee's activities and responsibilities. The authorizations are combined in an authorization profile that belongs to a role. User administrators then assign the appropriate roles to the employee via the user master record so that the employee can use the respective transactions for his or her tasks in the company.
Context-dependent authorizations
Different organisational fields are used in each module. Since there are many interfaces between the modules, the main organisational fields of the modules must be linked. However, there are also organisational fields that are only relevant for the respective module. All object fields used as organisational units are listed in the USORG table.
