Management of processes and transports in SAP
A trick often used by administrators is to allow for time buffers before starting the next job. The buffer times are necessary because it is not possible to predict exactly how long a job will take to complete, since the duration depends on many incalculable parameters. Since it makes little sense to run backups and SAP jobs at the same time, these tasks are usually done one after the other rather than in parallel. In more complex environments, data backup durations, time buffers and job runtimes add up to such an extent that the time available is no longer sufficient to perform all activities within the available time corridor. Tools that work with status dependencies and then automatically start the next job when its predecessor job has been processed without errors can help here.

Companies face a major challenge. The world is not going digital, but it is already. The age of digitisation and the related technological changes, as well as the demands of customers, bring new opportunities and new challenges for companies. In addition, the product strategy is changing, including that of SAP. In order to achieve the associated goals of the company and to implement them as effectively and efficiently as possible, the SAP basis must contribute to the design of an IT roadmap and to the design of the digitisation and also cloud strategy. A detailed review of the IT Roadmap recommendation is carried out within the master thesis in chapter 7.9.

SAP Basis is the foundation of any SAP system. You can find a lot of useful information about it on this page: www.sap-corner.de.

In order for Fiori applications to be displayed according to the calling users, appropriate Fiori permissions must be maintained in the PFCG. There are several points to consider. This article discusses the permissions required to launch a Fiori application. In addition, a short explanation is given, how the displayed tiles can be configured in the Fiori launchpad via reels. To run Fiori applications from the launchpad and the permission queries defined in the OData services, the corresponding Fiori permission objects must also be maintained in the PFCG. Here the start permissions for the application's OData service in the backend system as well as permission objects are relevant for the business logic of the OData services used in the application. In general, it is important to know that if Fiori is implemented correctly, permissions must be maintained in the front-end server (call Launchpad, start the tile, etc.) as well as permissions in the back-end server (call the OData services from the backend). This article explains this in more detail.

In order to reduce the variety of different system variations and the related variety of routine tasks, it is necessary to reduce the number of customer specifications. In particular, the implementation, set-up and configuration of the systems and security concepts must be harmonised or returned to the SAP standard. To this end, it is necessary to establish, in cooperation with the relevant IT departments, a standard for, for example, operating systems and databases within the limits set by the product.

"Shortcut for SAP Systems" makes many tasks in the area of the SAP basis much easier.

It is also necessary to record and describe the performance of the base by IT service management, as well as techniques such as a RACI matrix to identify and document the responsibilities of the SAP basis.

So much information... how can you keep it so that you can find it again when you need it? That's what Scribble Papers is great for.
