Database: For some databases (MS SQL Server) there is the possibility to copy the database files and reattach them on the target system. For the following SAP installation you only have to specify that no SAP loads should be used, but that the database is already there!

The maturity and performance of automation tools for SAP system copying have evolved over a period of more than 15 years. The first tools for SAP system copy creation came from the mainframe environment.

The freeware Scribble Papers is a "note box" in which all kinds of data can be stored. It takes in typed texts as well as graphics and entire documents. The data is then organised in folders and pages.

Unicode conversion: During the copy, the system is converted from non-Unicode to Unicode. This happens in the context of a homogeneous or heterogeneous system copy. In connection with Unicode must be differentiated between the system copy of a Unicode system and the Unicode conversion.

Fact: BDLS is a kind of "time eater" for system copies (except when using Hana). An important first step is to integrate the BDLS run into the system copy. Once the copy is effectively through, the BDLS is automatically started.

SAP system copy is made much easier by the "Shortcut for SAP Systems" application.

Especially the latter is of great importance in SAP Basis departments (and of course also for service providers).
